Māgoa presents Maksim Samsonov from Russia, fashion photographer and ambassador for Fujifilm. Today, he is going to talk about his work, style and ideas. Read more about it down below.
How would you describe your vision and style?
I’m often called the avant-garde fashion photographer, because my style is not typical. I love to create insane, crazy or provocative pictures. For example, in one of my photoshoots, I placed artificial eyes on the model. I like experimenting with clothes and mood from some era, like the 80s or 90s. When I want to create perfect shoots, I strive to ignite ideas in my mind with ideas of my stylist. This is how my photography is born.
Among your works, which one is your favorite and why?
My favorite work is constantly changing because every day I create something new. Today, for example, I like the series Sexy Lips, a series that I recently showed at EXPO in Moscow. Large prints from this series adorn the walls of my home today as well.
And what’s the best thing someone said about your work?
Everything is very simple. Photography is my passion. It gives me inspiration, emotions and memories. And every time I go to shoot, I feel pleasure. Every day people tell me ”how did you come up with this” or “this is craziest thing I’ve ever seen”. And this is the best compliment for me.
