Māgoa presents Russian-born photographer Kristina Varaksina who has resided in the United States of America since 2010 and currently lives and works in New York.
Varaksina’s focus is to capture human emotion and the psychological impressions of her subjects’ mind – permitting the characters to project their internal reality. Recently, Aesthetica magazine wrote that “Varaksina’s personal works are etherial, projecting the psyche onto the corners of a room. Through a conscientious attention to light and a soft palette these allegories come to life and absorb the viewer into their microcosm.” Kristina Varaksina’s fine-art work can be found in several galleries around the globe: Themes+Projects San Francisco, Brownie Shanghai, Lumas Berlin.
Kristina is also a recipient of multiple prestigious photography awards, like Prix de la Photographie, Communications Arts Photography Annual, Int’l Photography Awards, PDN Faces, and many more. Her clients include: Harper’s Bazaar Kazakhstan, Harper’s Bazaar Ukraine, L’Officiel China, L’Officiel Thailand, Ugg, Bonobos, Roam with Atari, Cetaphil.
