Māgoa presents Claudi Sovré, visual artist better known as CLOUDY. Recent graduate of Photography at VIST, Sovré has continued his studies in Costume Design at Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television (AGRFT) in Ljubljana.
This Thursday, 8th October 2020, in partnership with Generali Gallery, he will present Prince of Pop: a retrospective showcase of Sovré’s best work, created between 2013 and 2020, combining photography with costume design. You are all welcome to join him on a virtual opening of the exhibition at Generali’s virtual gallery.
Prince of pop, a title which, besides author’s constant usage of pop-culture references, suggests a connection of his works with the philosophy of pop art – for the construction of a personal myth, it is elevating the charisma of everyday imagery, which can through author’s transformation achieve integrity of an aesthetic ideal. If Madonna is considered to be the queen, Michael Jackson the king, and Britney the princess of pop, pop-culture never actually “officially” awarded the title of prince to any artist: therefore, Claudi decided to appropriate it for the next two months. Selection of 20 of his best works will conclude his first artist stage – moving into the unknown, or so-called adult age. Welcome to his utopia!
For those, who will have the chance to be in Ljubljana between 8th October and 27th November, you can visit the exhibition at Generali Gallery, Dunajska 63, Monday to Friday, 8am-6pm.
